Instead, he's leaving the decision to state regulators. Retired judge Richard Dana submitted his six-page ruling to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment yesterday. It would be the first licensed in the country in more than twenty-five years. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment approved the project last year—but a judge threw it out, and called for more public hearings. Those were held in Nucla over the last week. They’re the latest in the larger debate about whether or not to revive the uranium industry here.
