That's despite a ruling that Western Slope Layers would have to cease and desist operations immediately, handed down by Judge J. At issue: the compatibility of the facility with the surrounding neighborhood; its impact on neighbors’ health and real estate values; the ability of the county to properly monitor the situation; and what regulations actually apply to the facility. A similar hen-laying operation is proposed for Redlands Mesa.
Wed, 29 May 2013 14:00:00 +0000 Marty Durlin 10944 at http://kvnf.org Delta County Commissioners Approve Hen House, Plaintiffs Vow to See Them in Court Commissioners Uphold Hen House Decision http://kvnf.org/post/commissioners-uphold-hen-house-decision-0
Yesterday, the Delta County Commissioners upheld their earlier decision approving specific development applications for two laying hen operations. The decision review was required by a district court ruling in July. One of them, Western Slope Layers, has been operating for a few months already on Powell Mesa. KVNF’s Ariana Brocious reports that the hearing was required after a district court sent the commissioners original approval of both applications back to the county for further review.

ChickenHearing_9_4_12
Thu, 06 Sep 2012 19:10:01 +0000 107 at http://kvnf.org Delta BOCC Hearing on Hen Houses, Round 2
