Memorial Day Rendezvous Near Montrose

Memorial Day weekend, 50 people gathered out in the wilderness, about 15 miles south of Montrose.  It was the site of the Uncompahgre Freetrappers Happy Canyon Rendezvous.  KVNF’s Jake Ryan went to go find out what a rendezvous is, and why they show up.

CDOT Wants Public Input On Programs Like Its Interregional Bus Service

The map shows CDOT's planned route for its interregional bus service set to launch in early 2015.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is holding an open house in Grand Junction on Wednesday. 

CDOT said the purpose of the meeting is to get feedback on how to improve local and regional transit. The  information from the meeting will be included in the department’s statewide transit plan, according to CDOT. 

One of agency’s newer programs, set to launch early next year, is a bus service to connect the Front Range to the Western Slope.

Landslide Causes Economic Problems For Ouray

In January a massive landslide closed Highway 550 through Red Mountain Pass. The pass reopened in March, but closed again on a limited basis in late April so crews could continue repairs.

In January a massive landslide closed Highway 550 through Red Mountain Pass for a month while crews cleared debris. 

That stretch of Colorado’s Million Dollar Highway connects the city of Ouray to the town of Silverton. Construction on the highway resumed in April to repair damage and place chain covers over the areas most susceptible to rock movement.

Last week, Ouray declared a state of economic emergency as a result of the natural disaster.

Bill Aimed At Boosting Vaccine Rates Becomes Law

A bill seeking to boost vaccination rates was signed into law by Governor John Hickenlooper on Wednesday.   

House Bill 1288 requires schools to standardize how they track vaccine exemption rates and make that data available to parents if they ask for it.
