Thomas began volunteering at KVNF Public Radio over 20 years ago, creating and hosting several radio shows including the long running show, Gumbo Ya Ya. During that time, Thomas was a member of the KVNF Board of Directors. In 1998, he was contracted by the radio station to coordinate the Fall Pledge Drive, the KVNF Birthday Party Dance and the KVNF New Years Eve Party.
The following year, Thomas was hired as the Manager of the Blue Sage Center for the Arts, and soon after was promoted to Executive Director. During this time (7+ years) Thomas innovated, produced and directed numerous events (including several festivals), published an arts and culture newspaper (the Paonia Planet) and ran the day to day operations of the Blue Sage.
True jumpin' juke joint cajun zydeco musique, tinged with a whole lotta soul and blues from New Orleans, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and beyond. This is one of KVNF's gems of a hard-drivin' full-tilt boogie show. Proudly brought to you by Father of Gumbo Thomas Smith, The Emperor, and the Hurricane.
