Danny Elfman does an indie-pop packed soundtrack for the black and white stop motion remake by Tim Burton of his 1984 short film by the same name. It's cute and expected, but with a few tracks not to miss. Robert Smith (The Cure) sings a burlesque-y rendition of "Witchcraft," popularized by Sinatra, that is absolutely arresting. If you're wondering where Winona Rider is, she's singing sweetly, unswervingly, at the end of this CD (as well as voice-acting in the film.) And of course, there is fun to be had with Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Mark Foster (Foster The People), and a little help from The Flaming Lips.
