Local Motion: Pass the Mic Commentaries

Pass the Mic” is a youth storytelling and news corps program developed by KVNF in partnership with the The North Fork Heart & Soul Project.  Youth participants learn the skills of how to produce interviews and stories in a multi-media context.   All 7 young reporters are assigned to a “beat” reporting on a North Fork industry.  Today the kids share their opinions on some important issues and the industries they are reporting on.

  • Alison Godwin on the importance of the coal industry to our local economy.

  • Isaac VanHorn shares an idea on how to help local organic farmers increase profits.

  • Noah Silverstein on the benefits of eating healthy, locally produced food.

  • Katya Schwieterman explains why she thinks there should be more theater opportunities for young people in the North Fork.

  • Will Ela discusses the differences between organic and conventional farms.

  • Leaf Michelsen talks about all the outdoor activities and sports people can enjoy in the North Fork.

  • Riven Sky Badgett shares some good ideas on how we can reduce, reuse and recycle.
