kvnf news

On this week's Local Motion, we've decided to highlight political stories aired on our regional newscast.

KVNF's Laura Palmisano reports on marijuana ballot issues and takes us to a town on the Western Slope where the issue has divided voters, Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen interviews candidates running for Colorado State Senate District Five, KUNC's Luke Runyon reports on a GMO labeling ballot measure, and BenteBirkeland tells about the efforts of political parties to attract young voters.

In the last segment of the program, Palmisano reports on proposed changes to the Clean Water Actand Birkeland talks about the anti-personhood amendmenton the state's November ballot.

To hear more original, regional reporting, tune in weekdays at 8 a.m. and 5:50 p.m.

As KUNC’s reporter covering the Colorado River Basin, I dig into stories that show how water issues can both unite and divide communities throughout the Western U.S. I produce feature stories for KUNC and a network of public media stations in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, California and Nevada.
Originally from Montana, Marci grew up near the mountains and can't get enough of them. She began in broadcasting in Missoula, Montana where she anchored Montana Public Radio's local Evening Edition news program. She then picked up a camera and tripod and worked for Missoula's local CBS television station as a reporter. Shortly after that, she returned to radio and became the Assistant News Director at a radio station in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Marci began at Aspen Public Radio in 2007 as the station's morning host and reporter. Although you can occasionally hear Marci in the mornings, she is now quite content to be sleeping in and reporting all day. When not at the station, Marci is on her road bike, meeting people, or skiing.
