Sugar Blue // Raw Sugar

Released 09/13/2012 Beeble Records

Sugar Blue has done it again with his live 2-CD release “Raw Sugar.” One of the most striking tunes is an updated “Miss You.” Striking as in “it will flat blow you away.” By way of reference, Sugar toured with the Stones in the late 70s and played  harmonica on “Miss You” on the Stones’ ’78 release of “Exile on Main Street.”  This cat has been around for decades, and is simply one of the best harmonica players and funk/soul/fast movin’ blues vocalists around.  It’s booty-shakin’ dance musique of the first degree.  I’m glad to see Sugar Blue starting to get the recognition, club dates, and hopefully the record sales. A man with the fire in the belly for musical excellence that Mr. Blue has deserves it.

The Hurricane continues to pursue a 45-year career in disaster response and training, with emphasis on aviation. An earlier stay in Crawford ‘75’-’79 brought back good memories in 2004 when he came down from Boise on the Saddle Mtn fire, and less than 2 months later he and Maggie had taken up residence at Rancho Paradiso outside Crawford.
