North Fork Seed Library, Sarah Smith

Host Jill Spears welcomes gardening guru Lance Swigart back to the studio, along with special guest Sarah Pope, Seed Librarian for the Delta County Library District. They discuss seed saving and seed libraries, which allow patrons to check out locally-grown seeds for planting in their own gardens. The Hotchkiss Library will host a seed-sorting party Tuesday, January 26, 4 - 6 pm,to prepare for the 2016 growing season.

A caller asked if the library had any seed varieties that are indigenous to the area, and another caller suggested this book for more information on that subject.

A native Texan, Jeff was bitten by the Colorado "bug" after graduating from UT-Austin. He arrived in Paonia on the October full moon of 1978, and has been involved with KVNF since its earliest days. His first KVNF show was "Sunday Night Live," which featured live musicians performing in the original Garvin Mesa garage/studio.
