Paonia Town Council Takes "No Action" on Amendment 64

In a narrow 2010 vote, Paonia residents approved a measure to ban medical marijuana dispensaries. This year, the question is whether to allow commercial marijuana sales in town. But after a decision by the Paonia Town Council yesterday  evening (Tuesday July 9), that issue won't be on a ballot this year. 

The Paonia Town Council on Tuesday evening voted to approve a "No Action" plan regarding Amendment 64, the Colorado constitutional measure that legalizes commercial marijuana activity in the state.

Slideshow: 67th Annual Paonia Cherry Days Parade

Friends, families and neighbors from near and far gathered this Independence Day for the annual Cherry Days Parade through downtown Paonia. From firefighters to fiji-dancers, to clowns and a very-well behaved marching goat, the parade showcased and celebrated the North Fork Valley's diversity and communal spirit. 

KVNF's Joanna Calabrese was on hand to capture that spirit.

James "Randy" Udall's Body Discovered in Wyoming

Wednesday, July 3: The body of 61 year-old environmental activist and Carbondale resident James "Randy" Udall was discovered Wednesday evening by an aerial search and rescue team. 

The Sublette County Sheriff's Department says Udall's body was discovered by a helicopter flying over rolling terrain in Wyoming, where Udall had been missing since failing to return on Friday from a solo hiking trip in the Wind River Range area near Pinedale.
