Presidential Candidates Court Colorado Voters, Again

The presidential race is tightening and both candidates are making a final push in key swing states- including Colorado. More than 10 thousand people filled Red Rocks amphitheater Tuesday night to see Governor Mitt Romney and his running mate Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan. President Barack Obama is holding a rally in Denver today/Wednesday. Bente Birkeland has more from Lakewood.

KVNF Sports Report: 10/25/12

The Hotchkiss Bulldogs will retain the coveted North Fork Bowl trophy for the sixth consecutive year after rolling over Paonia last Friday, 39-6. The Bulldogs are now in second place in the 1A Western Slope League.

Rifle Hunting Season Preview

  Hunting season is upon us, and the Western Slope is now playing host to thousands of local and out-of-state hunters intent on bagging a deer, elk or other game. The first rifle season starts Saturday. KVNF’s Ariana Brocious talked with Colorado Parks and Wildlife district wildlife manager Kirk Madriaga about what the big game season looks like on the Western Slope.

The decision review was required by a district court ruling in July. KVNF’s Ariana Brocious reports that while the commissioners have now complied with the court ruling, the story isn’t over yet.

Paul Ryan Campaigns Across Western Slope

Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan spoke at events across Colorado’s third Congressional District yesterday [Monday].  He campaigned near Pueblo, Durango, and Grand Junction. Reporter Elise Thatcher was at the Durango stop and filed this story.

More than fourteen hundred people gathered in a gymnasium at Fort Lewis College. And they cheered loudly when Ryan argued for cutting the federal deficit, boosting energy development and supporting small businesses. The candidate also talked about his own connection with Colorado.

Gessler Faces Ethics Complaints

Republican Secretary of State Scott Gessler is defending himself against charges that he misused public money and gave himself an end of year bonus. An independent ethics commission and the Denver District Attorney’s office are both deciding whether or not to investigate the claims. Bente (BEN tuh) Birkeland has more from the state capitol.
