See the North Fork Valley through the eyes of seven young reporters, ages 8-12. Hear their dialog with business owners, coal executives, farmers, artists and ranchers about the future of the North Fork Valley.
Here's a taste of what's to come from these young reporters. You'll hear segments of interviews the kids conducted with locals, exploring the industries of the North Fork Valley. The kids speak with author - Craig Childs, Jeff Schwartz of Big Bs, Dr. Heidi Marlin, local artist - Maya Arthur, president of the Oxbow coal mine - Jim Cooper, local bike enthusiast - John Eckert and long time resident and rancher - Norm Smith.
Pass the Mic Arts reporters, Katya Schwieterman and Riven Sky Badgett, interview fashion designers for 2012 Paonia Fashion and Design show. "Pass the Mic" is a project of North Fork Heart and Soul and KVNF Community Radio.
"Pass the Mic" is a youth storytelling and news corps program developed by KVNF community radio in Paonia, Colorado, in partnership with the North Fork Heart & Soul Project. Over the course of two years, 14 young reporters will be assigned to a "beat" reporting on a North Fork industry. Youth participants learn the skills of how to produce interviews and stories in a multi-media context, and will be supported in presenting their final projects to the valley.
