Presidential Debate

Listen to the debate between Republican Incumbent J Paul Brown and Democratic challenger Mike McLachlan, candidates for State House District 59, which comprises Ouray, Hinsdale, San Juan, La Plata and parts of Archuleta and Gunnison counties. Ray Beck moderated the debate. Each candidate was given three minutes for opening remarks, and Rep. J Paul Brown was first.

Coloradans across the state turned out for watch parties last night, as President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Governor squared off in their first debate at the University of Denver. Statehouse reporter Bente Birkeland attended a watch party in downtown Denver. She talked to fellow reporters and voters about the debate’s impact and whether it lived up to expectations.

On Wednesday, the University of Denver will make history by becoming the first Colorado school to host a presidential debate.
