Confessions of a Heavy Thinker: 12:30pm on Sundays, 2:30pm on Thursdays, Angus Stocking

Confessions of a Heavy Thinker is a short feature created by Angus Stocking, whose intention is to loosen the listener's grip on fixed beliefs, so that more pleasant beliefs can be selected and implemented. In addition to Confessions, Angus also publishes essays on his blog, OtherBS.com, and has contributed essays to BoingBoing.net. His Kindle ebook, also titled Confessions of a Heavy Thinker, is available on Amazon for a very reasonable sum.

Western Slope Skies: Black Canyon Astronomical Society

Western Slope Skies is produced by members of the Black Canyon Astronomical Society, who take a look at our “local” night sky. Hear it on the Friday morning local newscast (from 8-8:15 AM) and on Wednesday nights at 8 PM during Global Express.

The Hotchkiss Bulldogs will retain the coveted North Fork Bowl trophy for the sixth consecutive year after rolling over Paonia last Friday, 39-6. The Bulldogs are now in second place in the 1A Western Slope League.

KVNF Sports Report: 9/27/12

More than 140 runners competed at the 12th annual Hotchkiss Cross Country meet last Saturday. KVNF’s Tamie Meck has this report.

The Hotchkiss girls team had 16 points for the win—securing the two best times of the day and placing four runners in the top 10. Montrose, led by Dana Shellhorn, placed second with 41 points. Paonia was third with 49 points.

The boys team also claimed the top two times to win the team title with 22 points. Second-place Palisade had 33 points, and Montrose was third with 42 points.

KVNF Sports Report: 9/13/12

Hotchkiss outside hitter Brielle Palmer goes up for a kill shot against Paonia’s Carson Pipher (11) and Abby Campbell. Paonia won the match in three. The two North Fork rivals will play again on Oct. 6.

It’s been a busy week for local prep sports teams. KVNF’s sport reporter Tamie Meck has these highlights.

After a five-year hiatus, the rivalry between the Delta and Montrose football teams was resurrected last Friday, when Montrose junior Angelo Youngren scored three touchdowns and kicked five extra points in the Indians’ 35-0 routing of Delta. Montrose held Delta to just 84 yards rushing and 49 yards passing.

The Olathe Pirates will try for their first win of the season Friday night when they host Grand Valley.
