INITIATIVES
The employment unit engaged in the following broad outreach initiatives in accordance with
various elements of FCC Rule 73.2080(c)(2):
| Established an internship program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment. | 12/30/2011 started an intern program in our Development Department with Colorado Mesa University student, Amber McDaniel. |
| Established training programsdesigned to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions. | Three station personnel [Development Assistant, Morning News Host,and Web Technician] participated in a Leadership effectiveness Training so that they would gain skills for meeting facilitation. |
| Established a mentoring program for station personnel. | Started a mentorship program with a nationally knownjournalist and our News Director. |
| Provided training to management level personnel on methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and prevent discrimination. | 4/4/2012 – Executive Director attended NAB webinar on “FCC EEO Updates: How to Prepare and Stay Compliant.” |
