Judge Revokes Arch Coal Lease

A District Court Judge revoked a lease expansion granted to Arch Coal in 2012.

In June of this year, the judge found that the Federal Government failed to account for environmental factors when awarding the lease.  Late last week, Judge Jackson decided how to resolve the issue: he revoked the lease and eliminated an exception to the roadless rule that allowed for expanded coal mining in the North Fork.
