The Delta man reported missing yesterday, Zacharia McEwen has been found.
The 68 year old has Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's, and left his residence on foot Wednesday afternoon. About 24 hours later, McEwen was found in an irrigation ditch. He had only walked about six blocks, but was found by chance by a ditch rider, William Groom.
"Nobody else would have found him up there," said Jamie Head, the Public Information Officer for the Delta Police Department.
Head says the area he was found in was dense with vegetation.
"We're very thankful that that ditch rider was up in there and made the call so we could get up there and give [McEwen] the medical attention he so desperately needed," said Head.
McEwen reportedly has a history of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
