They’ve been incredibly busy, but they don’t mind much. After all they ARE activists!
When asked about their first week in Paonia, Head Flamingo Franny stated, “We were a bit nervous when we saw all the snow in Paonia. But we learned how to create snowballs and an epic flamingo snowball fight (which lasted for hours) quickly ensued.”
I’m pleased to report that the birds are holding up quite well with the frigid temperatures and are quite enjoying their time here in beautiful Paonia, Colorado.
A flock of flamingos broke out of the Washington, D.C. Zoo and appear to be headed towards Paonia, Colorado traveling via KVNF's airwaves. They’re expected to land on the 90.9 frequency in Paonia on February 1st.
While the details of the birds' escape remains unclear, they’ve been identified as a group of activists out to give a leg up to community radio. Their activism tactics will include staging stand-ins in resident's front yards and employing the silent treatment.

The Annual Meeting for North Fork Valley Public Radio, Inc. is coming up later in October — Thursday, October 24, 2103, at the Paonia Town Hall, 214 Grand Avenue, at 6 p.m. There will not be board member elections this year as we have two members standing for re-election this year — John Moore, and Kate Zachman, and we had no new nominations for our total of four vacancies. So no election is required at this time. The board will continue to seek qualified candidates to appoint to these vacancies.
Todd & Cynthia Hines will once again offer their exceptional "Blues Air Force" pledge drive premiums during their show "Blues and Other Colors" on Tuesday afternoon, 10/8/13 during fall pledge drive. Listen up!
