The new programming schedule you've been hearing about is now live. Head over to our Schedule Page to see the schedule, or just take a look at it below!
Democracy Now! has been moved to 3-4 pm, and most of our public affairs programming can now be heard from 6-7. We're ecstatic to bring you Radiolab, one of the most cutting-edge radio programs on the airwaves (fun fact - Radiolab Live is coming to Denver the weekend of November 1st!)
The Annual Meeting for North Fork Valley Public Radio, Inc. is coming up later in October — Thursday, October 24, 2103, at the Paonia Town Hall, 214 Grand Avenue, at 6 p.m. There will not be board member elections this year as we have two members standing for re-election this year — John Moore, and Kate Zachman, and we had no new nominations for our total of four vacancies. So no election is required at this time. The board will continue to seek qualified candidates to appoint to these vacancies.
Todd & Cynthia Hines will once again offer their exceptional "Blues Air Force" pledge drive premiums during their show "Blues and Other Colors" on Tuesday afternoon, 10/8/13 during fall pledge drive. Listen up!
On Thursday evenings at 7pm throughout the summer, KVNF LIVE! broadcasts a summer concert series from the towns of Ouray, Ridgway and Paonia. This summer's schedule includes performances by these fine musicians:
The 2013 summer new member pledge drive is in full swing this week from 7/15- 7/19. We wanted to give you a good look at the gifts available for a pledge of $50 or more to KVNF. Modeled by our friendly staff and volunteers, here they are!
The iSeeChange project and its website, thealmanac.org, are now featured in a beautiful new metasite produced by AIR, the Association of Independents in Radio. Our very own Julia Kumari Drapkin (we'll always call her "ours") will be presenting the iSeeChange project she developed in the North Fork Valley to various media interest groups across the country in the weeks to come.
We are very proud of the growth of our local news reporting here at KVNF in the last few years. Besides a daily local newscast, KVNF also offers sports reporting, environmental stories and in-depth coverage of issues affecting our listening community. Meet the KVNF News Team!
Change. Only six letters, but they string together to create one of the most powerful words in our language, and one of the most potent forces in our world.
Being a person with a strong bent toward etymology, I like to trace the origins of words as a means of unfolding their inner power. Like so many words in the English language, “change” comes to us from the Latin word cambire, meaning to exchange or barter. What a timely metaphor for KVNF’s 2013 Spring Pledge Drive!
On Saturday March 9th, KVNF's Morning news Host Brian Cambria drove through a storm over to Denver to attend the Colorado Broadcaster's Association (CBA) Awards of Excellence Banquet. KVNF had submitted 4 reporting pieces from 2012 for consideration and three of them were chosen.
San Miguel Power Association crews have restored power after Saturday's lightning-caused outage. Our KVMT transmitter at 89.1 FM is back on the air. Reminder: today is the last day of the Fall Pledge Drive. Call 527-4868 or 1-866-KVNF-NOW to make your contribution to KVNF Community Radio!
Friday pm - Our KVMT repeater (89.1 FM) is off the air due to a power outage. San Miguel Power is working to restore service; we expect it to be off until at least 3:30 pm. This also affects listeners in the Grand Valley, as the 99.1 translator repeats the 89.1 signal.
Please bear with us - you can listen online right here at KVNF.org.
The "wooden, dancing, mannequin, puppet guy" near Jeff's desk in the KVNF office has joined the cause! In a mysterious turn of events, he showed up yesterday with a hand-written note of his very own, proclaiming that he, "Will dance for pledges"! Who could turn down such a generous offer of support from our loyal friend.
Make a pledge! See him dance! Maybe a little stop motion animation? For the right price?
US District Court Judge John Kane, (father of KVNF's Executive Director Sally Kane,) was the keynote speaker at the KVNF Annual Meeting, held in Paonia on Oct. 4th, 2012. His subject matter was "Sin, Liberty and Law."
