Whole Foods Market has announced that by April of next year it will stop sourcing foods that are produced using prison labor.

The move comes on the heels of a demonstration in Houston where the company was chastised for employing inmates through prison-work programs.

Michael Allen, founder of End Mass Incarceration Houston, organized the protest. He says Whole Foods was engaging in exploitation since inmates are typically paid very low wages.

Some organic farmers are protesting a new grading system for produce and flowers that's coming into force at Whole Foods. They say it devalues the organic label and could become an "existential threat."

The Colorado Department of Public Health said products made in-store at Whole Foods in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, New Mexico, and Utah are being recalled over concern the food could be contaminated with Listeria.

Whole Foods Market Peach Salsa and Peach Goat Medallion products sold between June 1 and July 21 have been recalled.
